A Cornish artist based in Somerset.

‘The smell of wood as I chisel and rasp it into shapes and forms is potent and nostalgic. The form is always directed by the wood itself, the original sketch and maquette discarded. Stone, whatever its source, dictates the shapes that emerge. Covered in powder, exhausted from hammering stone or wood I am utterly contented and can lose myself for hours.’

‘I do not create what I see, I create what I feel.’

Laugh, play… you can be happy all of the time.
Use materials you find.. are given.
Use old school slow techniques. A chisel. A rasp. An old knackered paintbrush. Your finger.
Learn from doing, from playing.
Adrenalin rushing deadlines.
Don’t listen to the media.
Stay in your bubble. Haha.
What’s the worst that can happen.
But that’s the thing about the things that don’t work..they often lead to the things that do.
Break the system.
And then break it again.
Hang around humans that want to break the system and who play and who laugh.
Hang around where are there are no humans. Find the magic ;))

I am Amanda.

I live in an off grid shepherds hut with no running water or electricity. For the last year I have been solely an artist..a non commercial artist. I don’t know how I have done it. I m not sure how I eat. But I do. And I don’t know why I am happy. But I am.
